When should our kids leave home and take their lifes into their hands??!!

It is not like a totally different age that it used to be.. Now at 10 years old they are like we were at 18... lol...When do you think they should have their first date, first making love, moving out of the house ??!! How do you make friends with your child as a parent , so you will know what is happening in his life and mind?!
