12/9/24 - Update On My Husband

We visited my husband yesterday. He is hallucinating again. He is almost impossible to understand; and he is constantly reaching for things that aren't there. At 10 pm I got a call from him asking how long I had been home. He was convinced that I was there with him. I could hear the nurse in the background; so she might have instituted the call to show him that I wasn't there. It was a very stressful visit. I will discuss all of this on the 11th. Thank you for your continued prayers, support and thoughts. Photo Credit: Pixabay

I'm so sorry. I know how you were looking forward to a good visit together. Some of that sounds like dementia, but it could be other things as well, such as dehydration, his meds could be off, so many other things. At the top of the list for Wednesday's meeting should be that he needs to see the doctor and have lab work done before assessing him.

I'm so sorry. I remember m grandmother being in a situation like that. It was depressing. All you can do is what you can do. You have good suggestions down below. Please look into some therapy or support for yourself online.

You understand the most since you've seen him when he was robust, walking, etc.

I can't imagine going through something like that with a person but I've had dogs that got really old and would get confused which was hard for me to cope with.

It's hard to see your husband turn from a robust man that could walk and drive into a frail, skinny man who is hallucinating.
