Caught another one (rat)

Philippines
December 9, 2024 1:08pm CST
Last week I caught a rat that I saw on the floor running. It was a little big, I caught it. But somehow I was not satisfied with it. Because the small trash was messed up again. I set the trap again and finally caught this really big and noisy one. I knew there was a big one but I failed to catch it before. It won't be the last time. But I'm happy I didn't get rid of my old rat traps. Have you caught rats before. I can't use poison because it might killed my dogs as well. Have a nice day

Rats also tend to avoid many poisins anyway. Anyway.... yeah. We have had several living under our house. My cat was walking around with one in his mouth for a while, until I made him drop it outside.

That's the problem @kaylachan my mom and aunts don't want animals inside the house. Most specially Cats. They only care about poop problem on the cat and doesn't realize how good they are when it comes to being hunters.

@Letranknight2015 Literbox/tray is easy to clean. Cats are naturally drawn to such things, and will only l mess outside of it if they sick or can't get to it.

@kaylachan With four dogs, it's impossible to have a cat now.

We had a rat "in" the bedroom wall by my husband's closet a couple years ago. There was no way we could get to it, so we had to call a pro. And he got it - apparently it was the only one too.

Unfortunately, I'm the pro in this house @much2say the only pro people called are the ones that gets rid of termites. It's not like I wanted to, no ones doing something about it.

@Letranknight2015 Well, the good thing is you do know how to do it - and you did. But yah, I imagine it's hard to see the result of catching one .

@much2say Not to mention snakes. Luckily, they didn't find any when they removed all the storage trash.

We don’t have rats around here, but I did have a mouse once. We caught it pretty easily. I cannot stand rats, and would be really freaked out if we had one. My neighbor owned a pet rat once. In the back of my mind, I was always concerned it would escape.

I read that once you tamed a rate it will never leave unless you don't feed it @AmbiePam we still have plenty of small rats to get rid of.

oh boy! You know what I am doing while doing mylotting? I am eating! Lol! but its good to know you caught the big one. Ours was so little but we caught it already, and I am hoping there is no remaining one hiding.

I think the construction of the new street flood pipe rattled most of them and started coming out of the man hole. This evening my dog killed one of them as they tried to enter the house @luisadannointed

I used the sticky pads to catch the mouse. To my surprise, there were 3 little mice. But now all 3 were gone.

Hello @jobelbojel they're resourceful. If one of them have a chance to let go and grab on to something to get out, they do it. For me, once I capture them i smash their heads immediately.

The small ones yes @rakski but the big ones that I really have to get. They do the most damage.
