I am going to have to figure out taking new medicine

Ya know, I have to take medicine like most of us older persons.
However, while I have to take a pain medication 3 times a day, I have agreed to myself that I will put the morning medication in the little fridge by my bed. So, I take this stuff 8 hours apart. I mean, I often am awake after midnight, but if I do it at 6 a.m., 2 p.m. and then 10 p.m. it is do able. Doing it at 6 I have no guilt about going back to sleep.
BUT I have just today gotten a new one. 4 times a day. I am not going to take it at 6 a.m., I'm sorry. I have to put a certain amount in the mouth, swish it for 2 minutes and spit it out...
I am not going to wake up to do that. Nope, not happening! So... I have to figure out how to spread this thing out while not waking up to do it, because then I would be awake. I know me. Maybe 4 and a half hours?
I just did an estimation and came up with 3.75 hours... so, 4? I would do it at 1 a.m. that way, but I could do it earlier, just not to much earlier...
What do you guys think? I'm just not going to wake up in the middle of the night when I already have so much trouble sleeping!

It's important to take medicine as prescribed. You have an hour either way to play around with. So if you normally wake around seven or eight, start with that. and count four hours from there.

@ElicBxn Then take your first dose between nine and ten, and then figure four hours from there. so say you take one at nine Am, your next would be 1, then five, then nine and then one.

@kaylachan and that's what I put into my phone to get me to take them. I often run late taking my afternoon medicine on Wednesdays because working on the trash. I hate to stop, wash my hands and go take it. Generally speaking if I'm near the end, I'll wait. I'm sure this new medicine can be done the same way.

I have to sleep sometime, and I have always been bad at sleeping. Actually, getting back to sleep. I can do it with my liquid medication because it is right by my bed. I have a little fridge by my bed. I do not have to swish it around and spit it out which is what this medicine is calling for. Two minutes of a stinging medication, yes it stings, and then spitting it out is going to have me awake. I know for a fact, doctors don't want us to do things that would make our health worse. Now, I wouldn't wake up any one else if I did it, like taking my liquid medicine (that I swallow) at 6, Connie, a former mylotter's, mother moved in with us and did just that. She had an alarm (one of those old 'Big Ben' type ones that had a manual alarm) on a pie plate at 4 a.m. The next day, after I dragged my super tired butt home from work, I told her that wasn't happening again. She could take the medicine when she went to bed and when she got up but she was not waking the super light sleeper again, in the middle of the night! She went and b*tched to her daughter who told her she wasn't going to be waking me up in the middle of the night. If she doubted it, she should call her doctor. I guess she either did that or just did something else because it never happened again.

@rakski I think if you asked a doctor between taking a medicine early or skipping a dose you would probably have them say, take the dose early and go to bed. It isn't like something that is going to kill me if I take a dose early. Heck, before I decided I could wake up and take a dose and go back to sleep I was taking a stronger medication at about 6 to 7 hours - depending on when I got up.

Four times a day boils down to every 6 hours, doesn't it?

Yes, but I don't want to wake up to do it. If I wake up, I have a hard time getting back to sleep. This morning I got 2 calls before 8. I didn't know what time it was and snarled at him. The second call I just told her it wasn't 8 yet. The next call was after 8, but I had fallen back to sleep. I don't really remember that call, but went back to sleep a third time. The first time was after taking my morning meds at 6. I suppose I could do it then, but I know I would be awake at that point. I mean, load the medicine, take it and swish it around for two minutes; then spit it out in the trash can. I could preload it and have the trash can by the bed, it is more the 2 minutes of swishing that would wake me up... or I'd go back to sleep with it in my mouth.

@BarBaraPrz I don't know. I do know that next week I'm going back to the doctor, so, at least until then. I don't normally get up until 9. I did it then, and just did it about 1, next stop 5 or 6ish and then 11 or midnight.

@ElicBxn If I had to do that, I'd take one swish at midnight, then the second at 8am, third at 1pm, and fourth at 7pm and back to one at midnignt. Rinse and repeat. How long do you have to do this for anyway?

Try to figure out four hours between. That's how I usually do those

I now have my phone set for the task. It doesn't taste bad, but it is just a pain in the butt. I know I'll now have to drag along a new liquid medication if I'm not going to be home to do it. And try and do it on time. Of course none of the times are coincide with my other liquid medication.

if it's safe to drink them only 4 hours apart - i guess you could do that. but still, it would be better to do as prescribed
