In my wanderings around YouTube the other night I came across an old movie I had pretty much forgotten about. It was made 5 years before I was born. It is the story of a family in Georgia in the 1800s. As well as some cute live-action/animated bits it had the Oscar-winning song "Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah" in it although the copy I watched had the song muted. There was some controversy over the depiction of African American life on the plantations at that time and so the movie has been destined for obscurity sadly by Disney. I guess it was re-released in 1986 and then put on the shelf as are many of Disney's older movies. It was nice to see it again anyway.

I remember some of the songs from the movie and the title does ring a bell from my youth living in the former Canal Zone in Panama seeing the movie on television.

I used to collect Disney cartoon movie videos. I have so many I should watch them again just for fun. My first one was Sleeping Beauty, This is one movie for some reason that passed me by,

We also collected them but the kids wore them out watching them over and over. Also the land before time ones.
