Short story: Do not try to kill off your ego, more learn to control it

The old Professor, of Philosophy, Professor Arndo Respekler, was talking to his students about mankind, and what he is, if the greater picture of him is included in our thinking, or is a part of a philosophic way of living.
Here is what he said to them:
"The renowned spiritual teacher, Eckhart Tolle, in one of his books, told us that we are not our ego."
"While this indicates to one, that we are more than just being our ego, we are our ego too, as those who tell us to kill off our ego, are shooting off their big toe to spite their foot."
"All parts of us are required of us to live a full life, and our ego, kept in its right place in our life, can be a tool for us, just as much as our mind is too, and we are not just our mind either."
"What is our ego, and what is its function for us here, then?"
"Our ego is what gives us our freedom to think differently than what God thinks, as God thinks purely, but the ego influences our thought subtly through its connection to emotive energy."
"We can be trapped by our mind into thinking that we are just a body with a mind, an ego, and emotions, but if we add on another part of us, our spiritual part, our soul, we can reach into life further than our ego/mind/body/emotive self can ever do."
"Our lower body, with its parts, can give us a false sense of identity, and so we miss out on seeing past our mind to our heart, soul, or higher self."
"We should not identify, or think, that we are this thought-based body, because we are really a consciousness-based entity, that can live from an aware consciousness, that can bypass thinking, but which also can make use of our mind to feed guidance, and right ideas for us to live a full, and complete life with."
"We should not ignore the spiritual side of us, but stay connected to our soul, and by this stance, we then stay connected to the father of consciousness, to God too."
"Ok, that is all I will say today."
"Please think about these issues for yourself, and write me up an essay on what you think that we are as a person, in this life too."

"Love and ego can never exist together, just as the Sun and shadow cannot."
The writer, and spiritual teacher, Banani Ray, said this, but as my article indicates she was mistaken about this.
Love and ego must learn to live together for a full life to be lived.
The Sun also casts a shadow at times too, called a, “cosmic-ray sun shadow.” It is only, in part, because of the Sun, that we have shadows.

The ego reflects our unique identity as our thumbprint does.
Ego can be positive too to help us bring our best to showcase our talents.
It is how we channel our mind, thoughts, and ego that counts so that we leave our positive footprints in the sands of time.
All parts, including ego, should be allowed to play their parts rather than us suppressing them whenever they rear their heads.

Yes, that is what I agree with too.
Why would God give us a part that we then have to suppress, and do away with.
We are to try to make the best use of all of the parts of ourselves, and the we, doing this, should be our overself, our soul, so that one part, such as our ego, or mind, does not step up, and try to rule the roost, itself, instead.

@innertalks Suppressing the integral parts of us will lead to a miserable life.
If we do so, it is like buying a car/house and not using the many accouterments/amenities that come with them.
We need to use them judiciously for the betterment of the creative process.
We should not end up as spoilers.

@Shiva49 That is true, but at the same time, not many of us use all of the accessories of our cars, our computers, or our mobile phones.
There is too much to know these days, but at least we should try to know ourselves fully, and to use all parts of ourselves gainfully, and not keep some aspects of ourselves closetised in mothballs.
