George fell asleep on the couch at least an hour or two ago. I can't really go to bed until he does, because he needs his tube flushed and help getting into bed should he choose to go. I can't let myself go to sleep in case he calls for me. Thankfully I'm wide awake for now and will relax later. We don't have anything to do so I can nap later if I need. Just part of life.
I've tried getting George to go to bed, but I gave up. Like taking a shower it has to be done on his terms.

That sucks, I wouldn't know how to deal with that
I always think about if I was in this situation how
would I deal with it & to be honest I couldn't.

@2ndchances24 the stroke was really unexpected, I'll give you that. But, George is real independant all things considered.

@kaylachan I don't know how I could or would handle
such things as this, cause I have never had something
like this happen, & being my husband is up in his mid 70's
with a bad heart & high B p, knowing that doesn't mix well.
I'd be so lost & messed up if anything was to happen to him
right now, they'd have to put me in a time out to calm down.

I had and have a TBI and all the challenges that come with it. So I know on some level how he's feeling.

@LindaOHio I know he does, and you need to continue working to make that happen and respect his wishes. I told George, that I'm glad we hadn't had to make that choice, and he replied with 'I wouldn't stay'.
I know you're trying to do what you think is the best for him, which is what a caregiver should. But, the best isn't the easiest.
