**short version: my car had a dead battery 4 months, some kind people who saw me struggling gave me a free battery for my car**
I requested roadside assistance from my insurance company to get my car jumped at my apartment since it's been dead and sitting for 4 months, I still couldn't afford it but I have things to do before Xmas and was gonna put it on my credit card.
I needed fuel on the way to Walmart and left my car running while I was trying to pay at the pump bc I knew my car wouldn't restart if I turned it off, it turned itself off after being in park for 3 mins, stranding me at the station.
I asked a man w/ a huge truck if he could jump me but neither of us had cables so I went back to my car and cried. So I requested another jump from insurance but it would take 2-3 hours to get to me.
But I saw an auto shop across the street and hoped to buy a battery from them maybe they'll come to the gas station and install it. The mechanic jumped my car from the gas pump and drove it over to their shop.
They ended up giving me a used but still good battery for FREE... since they could tell I had been crying and it was holidays and also because my car looked like it needed some TLC. I was so surprised and happy. I expressed my gratitude as much as I could but they'll never know how much they truly made a difference in my life.

That's so nice, that someone stepped up and helped you. There are still good people in this world.

A few months ago, a friend stepped up for me when I hadn't even told her I needed help. She figured it out by herself somehow, but I hadn't discussed it with anyone. I won't go into it here, but she, and her husband, quietly took care of it and told me it was done, and that they loved me.
As I said, there are good people out there. I am so glad one of them stepped up to help you out. I know personally how much it can truly mean.
