I always enjoy learning interesting facts about the holidays. I thought you might also. Here are a few: * Sir Henry Cole, the founder of the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, commissioned the first commercial Christmas card in 1843. * Historians actually think that Jesus was born in the spring. * Ancient Egyptians used to celebrate the winter solstice by decorating their homes with green palms, Romans celebrated Saturnalia with evergreen boughs. This signified that spring would return. * The first Christmas trees started in Germany in the 16th century. * Queen Victoria and her husband, German Prince Consort Albert had themselves sketched in 1848 standing in front of their tree. This quickly made Christmas trees popular. Happy Christmas and Merry New Year. The picture is from my own collection.
