The Journey of a Humpback Whale

It is remarkable what animals can do like a male humpback whale traveling from South America to Africa. This is the longest migration recorded for a single whale and the first documentation of a male humpback whale traveling between the Pacific and Indian Oceans. This male humpback whale was first seen off the coast of Colombia in 2013 then in 2022 the same whale was spotted in the Indian Ocean near Zanzibar, off the coast of East Africa. I have to say this whale sure has determination, energy, and stamina. Also with an ocean full of other sea creatures, he did not have to worry about finding food when he got hungry.

@RebeccasFarm I don't know where they filmed this but I do not know any place in Latvia called Upurga nor a Upurga River. From what I read online and tried to find out it looks like wherever it was filmed got all put together just for this movie,

@RebeccasFarm no problem looks like any small river through a forest. It would have been good if they had said where in Latvia, I even read Wiki, and except for what the movie was all about and that it was Latvian I could not figure it out, Anyway, I was just curious,

They are amazing beasties. When I was in the Falkland Islands I hoped to see them, but nothing more than penguins did I spy!

I will check out the video, you clearly saying male. I thought about but never seen much on females or males as far as whales. Not sure if they were not sure who is who at time or the males just so similar in behavior to female ones. I do know some of those whales will wreck boats if they feel you in their way. I always imagined those being the males but could be females protecting children. Either way, lovely creatures but people always need to remember they a lot bigger than us and wild. Seem highly intelligent but its not like they get to kick their feet up at end of day. If they in the wrong mood, you best stay clear.

It is an incredible journey that a humpback whale traveled from South America to Africa safely.
