Bailey Moore has an agenda: Skiing in the Rockies, exploring castles in Europe, ballroom dancing in Argentina. Now that she has a second lease on life, she's determined not to miss a thing. What she doesn't realize is that item #1 comes with a six-foot-one ski god hot enough to melt a polar ice cap. She doesn't want to miss out on him either, but Hudson Kincaid isn't the type of guy to love and let go. And as gorgeous as Cedar Ridge is, she's not planning on sticking around.
As head of ski patrol at his family's resort, Hud thinks he's seen it all. But never has he run into someone like Bailey. She might look delicate, but her attitude is all firecracker. And her infectious joy touches something deep within him that he's been missing far too long. Now he'll just have to convince Bailey to take a chance on her biggest adventure yet... something rare and all kinds of wonderful.

Okay, yes, the guy on the cover is a hunk, totally hot. Jill Shalvis' description of him physically and characteristically tells me he is hot through and through.
Bailey Moore is getting over a long battle with cancer. She has been clear for six months and has made a list of the things she wants to do now that she knows she will live. The first thing is to ski in the rockies.
At Cedar Ridge, a Colarado ski resort, she meets Hudson Kincaid. He is hot. But totally emotionally unavailable. He has a missing twin brother, a mother with Alzheimer's, and runs the family ski resort along with his three half siblings. The last thing he wants is a relationship.
Bailey is not interested in a relationship but when she meets Hudson, who is hot with a capital H, she suggests to him "just once". The attraction is mutual and once becomes twice, becomes three times. They ignore their real feelings for each other and refuse to admit they are falling for each other. Hudson tends to push people away. Bailey wants to run from that, but can't.
There is lots of family drama here. Hudson's siblings and even his mother have lots to say about Hudson to Bailey. Bailey's mother was hoping for Bailey's happily ever after with long-time friend, turned fiancee, now EX, Aaron. There could be big trouble when Aaron shows up at the resort to check up on Bailey. It was a little tense there for a short time, not a long time thankfully. The misunderstandings in romance that are left uncommunicated and are drawn out get on my nerves. All the conflicts in this story are resolved quickly.
I loved this story. I, myself, was falling for Hudson. There is steam, just enough, which was more than three. And be prepared to learn all the ins and outs of running a ski resort. Jill Shalvis, as always, writes it well and is never boring.
Though this book is part of a series, I am sure they can be read as standalones.
I put my Movie Musicals prompt jar aside for a jar of all the holiday reads I own and am choosing from that. This book made it into the jar (first pick) because it's winter. I figured it had to be holiday related, or at least seasonal. Christmas coming up is mentioned once in the book so... it's a holiday read. I will be reading holiday picks from my jar until I can't handle anymore Christmas, or am chomping at the bit for a thriller read.
