Why Oh Why?

I am old. I have worked three time jobs at one time. I have worked a full time job, ran a house hold and raised one of my grand children from age 3 to 15. I took my daughter back after she deserted her family/job and chose to go live homeless with her boyfriend and smoke crank. Then when she was about to have her newborn taken away she came and bagged for me to let them come live with us again. Oh, yeah. LIFE. I was able to do it all and hold down a full time complex job. Now I set here a little upset. I ask my daughter and grandson to do some certain tasks each day. We have set down a plan that they agreed to. Nothing overwhelming but just maintenance to keep this place clean. I can't, and shouldn't have to do it anymore. The irritating part is that I have to remind them each day what is needed to be done on that day. Why oh why can't they take a little pride and responsibility and get it done? I'm cranky. I don't usually b*tch and moan about these two. They each have issues, mental and otherwise. But what will they do after I am gone? So I worry and fret.

You have been their lifesaver. It is amazing how we can pass down so many genes to our children and yet the common sense ones seem to be missed.

I can imagine your worry. They will either sink or swim. Hopefully swim.

That is a problem with many. They are doing others' jobs and are taken for granted.

Only thing I can be sure is that they will have to when I am gone

There are two seperate issues , the way I look at things. For maintainence part , just ask them casually if they would be able to do the thing slated for the day considering their current challenges and take their buy-ins. In that way , they may not feel , they are forced into rather it is part of the agreement. Second part is well is tricky. You could see if they be on their own by giving additional responsbility where they feel they can gain something once completed. That might boost their confidence and get them on their feet. Or if this is not possible , it is all about wait and watch. And you arejust sharing your pains. So never feel bad. I just thought of sharing ideas. Take are!

I am sure the mental stress is exhausting. I hate to have to remind people of normal everyday items as well.

I'm so sorry. You really shouldn't be doing any of those. I think as long as they know you are there, they'd continue to be that way. You have every reason to rant about it.

I just get frustrated at times. It is what it is and I don't see any change in sight. She is 53.
