I haven't read in a long time, at least not any books, but I recently picked up "Conversations on the Eve of Freedom" by Gypsy Rose Blanchard. Honestly, it wasn't great. It played out just as I expected, with a lot of questionable statements about her situation. I felt like it was full of exaggerations and lies, especially the narrative around how killing her mother was portrayed as her only way out. It was frustrating to read, and instead of finding insight, I just ended up feeling disappointed. I'm hoping for better reads next time! The second book I read was much better—it was "I'm Glad My Mom's Dead" by Jeanette McCurdy, who played Sam on both iCarly and Sam & Cat. I found myself relating to the book way more than I thought I would. Jeanette's raw honesty about her upbringing and the complexities of her relationship with her mother really struck a chord with me. It was both heartbreaking and empowering to read her story of liberation and self-discovery. Her ability to mix humor with heavy topics made it a compelling read, and I appreciated how authentic she was throughout. It definitely overshadowed my experience with the other book! As a lifelong Lucille Ball fan, I was excited to start "Lucy A to Z" by Michael Karol. I'm about seventy-five pages in, and it’s a delightful journey through her life and career. The format, with entries organized alphabetically, makes it easy to jump around and discover fun facts and anecdotes that celebrate her legacy. It's fascinating to see behind the scenes of her iconic shows and the impact she had on the entertainment industry. Karol's writing is engaging and filled with warmth, capturing both Lucy’s charm and the challenges she faced. It’s not just a biography, but a heartfelt tribute to her talent and tenacity. I can't wait to see what other insights and stories are revealed as I continue reading!

The late Lucille Ball was one of the best comedians of all time that was successful as an executive.

Jeanette McCurdy sure did have quite a story to tell. I didn’t read her book, but I knew of her situation.

Some biographies are really well-written while others aren't so captivating.
