We're Midway Through December

United States

Happy Monday Everyone! what a yucky weather day. Started with snow during the night, changed to wintry mix, mid morning changed to rain and now it's lightly raining and foggy. I think the only thing we won't see today is the sun. Temperatures are above freezing (not my much) so none of this mess will freeze (hopefully) The weekend flew by (as they always do) and I managed to write out my Christmas cards while watching season 3 of the Lincoln Lawyer on Netflix. If you like legal dramas this series is really good. I'm just waiting for a few little gifts to arrive this week and then I can relax. I had a hard time this year coming up with ideas for people I give actual gifts to. The grandkids are all older now and they would rather have cash or a gift card. Thankfully Amazon fits the bill for most of them. I do miss the days when they were younger and there were numerous gifts under the tree for them to open. It was fun watching them so excited and enjoying it all. Now the oldest is engaged and will be getting married in May and the youngest will get her drivers permit this summer. Time flies is one of the truest statements ever said. Aside from the usual things to do around the house there isn't much left on my "to do" list. Probably the hardest will be deciding what to make for dinner. What's going on in your little corner of the myLot world?

You're lucky that you can still order from Amazon and receive delivery in time for Christmas, here due to the postal strike, the couriers are overworked and deliveries are not expected before the holiday. I really wanted to have an item shipped before Christmas, but that isn't so, even though it wasn't to be delivered in Canada. Hopefully the new year will allow me to send something fresh and exciting.

Amazon has threatened to strike but so far they haven't. Thank goodness! Sorry that you've had to deal with your strike . Getting things delivered without a strike is hard enough. Hope in the new year you'll be able to send the item you want.

I just got back from the post office. It’s been a busy morning with appointments here and there. But today’s post office trip was in honor of a special person’s birthday. She should be getting her Christmas card any day, but her birthday card was sent today to get there closer to the 25th. Your grandkids sure do have some big life events coming up! It feels like some really exciting times are about to happen.

We are alone, just my husband and I. I bought a present for him and that will be all. This will be our 5th Christmas alone.

I'm sorry that you're alone. I'm sure your husband will appreciate your gift and I assume you'll make something delicious for dinner.

I spent 3 hours on the phone today making calls. Still have about a dozen to make. Have a good day.

@Marilynda1225 The calls to Spectrum, Kinetic/Windstream and the call about the $200 Visa card that Dish owes me were long and fruitless.

Everyone seems to have so much these days that gift cards are a good standby. At least the recipient can then buy something they like.

I've reached a point in my life where I don't need much anymore but even I do enjoy a gift card.

@Marilynda1225 When I'm given a gift card, I feel free to really spoil myself and buy something I really want that I wouldn't feel able to buy with my own money. Silly probably but that's my feeling.

it's good that you managed to write out the Christmas cards. i can't relate with traditions and opening gifts, but it does make me kinda sad that now everything can be "solved" with gift card, nobody needs to put much effort in figuring out what to get for someone. but that's fine as long as everyone's happy

Gift cards do come in handy but it does take away from the person aspect
