12/17/24 - Update On My Husband

I spoke with the social worker. My husband has an appointment with a urologist this week; so I will be able to get answers about his condition/diagnosis. I hope they will be taking the Foley out. Tried to get in touch with my husband all day. Tried his room phone twice too; but an old woman resident answered the phone. If someone will answer tomorrow, I will get the correct number for my husband's room. I ordered him a new cellphone yesterday. It should arrive in 2 days. We have a house full of clutter. Will probably continue giving items away or to Goodwill/Salvation Army. I may have to move at some point. Thank you for your continued prayers, support and thoughts. Photo Credit: Pixabay

It is hard to like your posts because they are filled with pain and fear of loneliness as well as concern for the plight of your husband. The only reason I like the posts is there is so much love in this that touches my heart. Love, hugs, tc...Linda...praying for you sweetie...

This has been going on for months but before that point, you had no idea what was coming up. I guess you have a lot of work to do now.

Can you get them to pick up? I think you might find life interesting in a senior complex.

I just hope everything can be worked out - for the best and soon. I do think it'd be a good idea to look into a facility that can house both of you together - that would be so ideal. As always, keeping you both in my thoughts .

@LindaOHio Although I don't know much about it, I have read there are places where couples with different needs can live together. I wish that for you two .

Unfortunately my husband needs more care than an assisted living situation could provide; and it would be too expensive for me to live where he is. Thank you for your support.

Are you paying a mortage? Do you own your home If you moved, where would you go and with what money?

@LindaOHio Maybe you should consider that. That way you could have your husband back. Depending on what he can do, will determine what kind of help he could actually need. And what type of person to provide it. Nurses are only needed for certian kinds of medications. That's really it.

@kaylachan maybe you and your husband could end up at the same assisted living facility together, @LindaOHio

In assisted living I would have regular meals. I would still rather stay here.

The lack of communication between the 2 of you is so disheartening. I hope that you can reach him, or him you, today. In the meantime, get what needs to be bundled up. When we downsized almost 8 years ago, I would sort and stack boxes and totes to be donated, and then get on the phone and there were a couple of organizations that would come out and pick up the goodies. That was amazing because we were not in town and my husband was living up here during the week and working. He'd come home on the weekends and see more and more donations picked up.

@LindaOHio I donated furniture to habitat for humanity as well as some building materials that we had in the garage up in the rafters and didn't need.

Oh no. Where would you move? Did they try to locate his phone there? And why has the foley not been taken out all this time?

I have no idea where I would move...maybe assisted living. His phone was found at the laundry and was totally unusable. I guess they were waiting for his urology appointment to assess his condition.

If the foley isn't attached to a drainage bag, why have they left it in? I would think it might cause an infection, be very uncomfortable at the least. I know when a friend's mother had a bladder infection, she'd get very erratic. Could this be happening to your husband?

It is attached to a bag; and he's very uncomfortable. He had a UTI in the past. I suppose it's possible.
