Let Them Think I’m Oedipus

A reviewer of Writing.com said the "ache for her touch" line in the poem about missing Mom could be taken as romantic. This individual had no idea Mom was gay. Still, her comment inspired me to write this bold declaration of self-identity and love.
Let them think I’m Oedipus
because my mom was gay.
Let them think I’m into drag
instead of Rocky Horror-like cosplay.
Let them spin their little tales,
rewrite my life in jest.
They’ll never see the heart of it—
the parts that I know best.
Let them think I’m something else,
some story they adore.
I’ll walk my path unbothered, bold,
and love my darling even more.

That is beautiful, I love it, I am glad you had your mom to love and care for you, And besides don't Moms often brush the hair from your face and stroke your head etc,
