12/21/24 - Update On My Husband

I set up my husband's replacement phone; and maybe after I give it to him on Sunday, I will start hearing from him again.
We will see him on Christmas Day. My husband's 2nd cousin will go to a brunch, come and pick me up, take me to the facility and then go to a Christmas event.. Then she will come back and pick me up. I can't believe she is willing to do so much. She is making a turkey breast, mashed potatoes and cranberry sauce; and we will have this dinner when we get back from seeing my husband.
I checked online for information about the appeal; and it is still "pending".
Thank you for your continued prayers, support and thoughts.

@LindaOHio I'm doing pretty well Linda. It seems like it's been forever since I've been on myLot. I miss interacting with everyone here!

If his room has a phone he should still be able to reach you, unless he's forgotten both your numbers. But the facility has them. so I don't know.

@LindaOHio I'm wondering if giving him a new phone will do any good. It's just at risk of getting stolen, or broken again. And, that's more money gone.

He won't use the room phone for some reason and won't answer it. He has a card with all the numbers on it.

@kaylachan The rooms in long term care don't have phones. We have to have some way of communicating with each other.

@LindaOHio I think that is ample, as well she must truly love both you and your hubs to give so freely of her time and efforts.

Yes, I try and pay her as often as she'll take the money, I take her out to eat and I've given her meat from my freezer, etc.

I am continuing to pay out of pocket. We don't have long-term care insurance. It's something you should consider. The younger you are, the cheaper it is. You just never know what will happen.

@LindaOHio hasn’t he been seen by a primary care doctor? How could Medicare refuse to pay for at least some of it when he clearly needs to be there and can’t be home?

@LindaOHio You really need to be proactive and contact senior advocacy groups, the state, etc. Paying out of pocket is INSANE and will bankrupt you very quickly.

That's good to hear she is going to take you to see him on Christmas day and then you'll have those things for dinner after. Hopefully you'll starting hearing from again after you give him the new phone.
