Happy Saturday! Time to sing the praises of Judy!! While you’re getting those last-minute gifts I’m giving the gift of music, thanks to a countdown about and inspired by our Australian myLotter @JudyEv ! Here’s today’s song. #9: Judy, Judy, Judy - Johnny Tillotson I’m sure anyone who remembers this song had it on their bingo card. Poor Johnny Tillotson. He was so hard to categorize in the 60s that he couldn’t be a superstar. He covered a lot of country songs which made him a little “too country,” but his pop stuff was too pop for country audiences. Oh, well. He did have pretty good success (probably his best-remembered song is “Poetry in Motion”), but he fell hard through the cracks once Beatlemania took hold. But he has been fondly remembered by his fans. At the age of 86, he is retired now, but he sure left a lot of fun songs in his career. This one has a “Happy Birthday Sweet 16” feel to it (except the object of affection here is 17 ). A good song for Tillotson….and for “our” Judy!
