The winter solstice has happened, and now the days get longer! A meteorologist I follow on Facebook said we have three more seconds of daylight today, and cautioned to “use them wisely.” Down under, it’s the opposite effect, where they have three seconds LESS of daylight today. That’s important because our myLotter @JudyEv , to whom this series is dedicated, lives there. Here’s another Judy song for her.
#8: Why Judy Why - Billy Joel
In 1971 Billy Joel released his first album to the sound of one hand clapping. Ten years later he was on top of the world. Goes to show you that first impressions aren’t always right.
The highlight, and most enduring song, from that first album was “She’s Got a Way,” the first song on the album. This one is just as good, though, a beautiful ballad about finding refuge in a friend.
The “Judy” in this song is Joel’s cousin, who was adopted by his parents as a child.
A forgotten track from a forgotten album by one of the best singer/songwriters of the era.

Hmm, Although I am a big Joel fan, don't know the album or the song. I didn't even know he even put out any music that early.

That album was so poorly recorded (if you listen to the original mix version) that I’m surprised it was even released at all. It sounds like it was recorded on a budget of $2.95. Having said that, we got a classic in “She’s Got a Way.”

Yes, he sounds like he’s singing that high part in “Don’t Ask Me Why” throughout this song.

You’ll have to wait for that one…and if you can’t, well, “I am sorry.”
