Oh I truly hate adulting and it is worse now that I live alone and have to do it all myself. Not having my ex to nag me to get something done makes it easier for me to push off the stuff that I don't want to do. I know it isn't smart but it is what it is.
My car is a 2020 Mazda MX-5 (Miata). It has about 15,500 miles on it. Ya know how many oil changes it has had? ONE. I received a recall notice for airbags a month ago and the battery seems to be acting up. My plan was always to get the oil changed on my Christmas break so I finally booked an appointment for Thursday to deal with it all. Apparently the place will drive me back here while they work on the car. I will have to get my neighbor to drive me back there whenever it is done.
I just spoke to someone in the service department because they needed the VIN and my address. It is all set up for 9 am on Thursday. I shudder to think of what the bill will be but it has to be done.

My dad was very adamant his daughters know how to take care of their cars, so we were pretty vigilant in getting done what needed to be done to our cars. Well, I don’t know what happened, but about five years ago he started changing my oil and putting gas in my car himself. I thank him all the time, but I’ve always been curious what changed.

I want your Dad to adopt me! That would be pure heaven to have someone do the oil and gas!

If it’s a recall there won’t be a bill. And usually those courtesy rides go both ways (don’t take that the wrong way).

Cheaper to repair than to replace. At least the recall part will be free. You might get lucky, although batteries have tripled in price.

What has to be done has to be done if you have a car. I am glad I no longer have one, Best of luck and I hope it does not cost too much,

I'm going to call AAA and have a new battery put in our other car. Have a good Christmas Eve.

@LindaOHio but what is the point of keeping it? You aren't using it. The $$ can be used for the long term care bill

@NJChicaa The other car. Had to put a new battery in that one too. Wanted to sell it to Carvana; but they lowered the price by $2,000.

At least they offer a shuttle service to get you home, too bad it is only one way.
The oil change and battery issues will cost you something, but if there is a recall, that is covered by the manufacturer and it won't cost you a cent.
I had a car plagued with recalls and had about 5 of them over the course of about 2 years
