Would you ever admit something was a regift?

In general, I don't agree with regifting, but if you have something you know the recipient would appreciate much more than you do, I don't think it is bad. I would never admit it was a regift unless someone asked me where I got it, or specifically was asked if it was a regift. If you regifted would you admit it?

I don't know. I would depend on the person and why they're asking. I've never regifted anything

I mean if it isn't opened, and you know the other person would like it,is it so bad?

@DaddyEvil It can be thoughtful under the right circumstances.

@snowy22315 As long as it's still sealed and they'd like it, then yes, I'd give it to them.

@snowy22315 I usually hold on to anything that isn't 'wonderful' in my eyes, because it is the thought that counts, and eventually I would find a new owner for it through a donation of some sort.

@Juliaacv Except if the item is cute or clever,it might be just up someone you knows alley.

I have only ever regifted once. A guy bought something for me while we were out, despite me saying I did not want it (all I said was that it was pretty), and to please not buy it for me. A few months later, I gave it to one of my cousins for Christmas. I don’t feel badly about that regift, and if asked, I would have admitted where it came from.. But most people I would not think of regifting in the first place. Not because there is something wrong with it; it just wouldn’t feel right to me.
My sister once got a gift from her mother-in-law that she had given her the previous Christmas. She had totally forgotten who gave it to her, and inadvertently given it back to the original giver.

@snowy22315 My sister didn’t say anything. It was only much later my BIL talked to his mom about it. His mother was like, oops. My sister just blew it off. She’s never thought highly of her mother-in-law. I love her myself, but I’m not the one who married her son.

That is nice of you. Usually re gifting is in lieu of buying another present.

I honestly don't think I've ever done this. I have usually just shared anything I can't put to use, either with one of my children or a friend or just donated the item.

There are some items you may get as gifts that you have no interest in, but someone else might appreciate

That's true. If it's something I can use but something not my preference, I try to make it work or pass it on.

I have never been put in that position . IF I should ever regift, I make absolutely sure the item is in great new condition and that it is something I do think the receiver would actually like. I have gotten an obviously regifted item that was opened . . . I didn't call the person on it, but in my mind it was the tackiest gift receiving moment ever.

Yeah, I think if something is already opened .it is definitely tacky to regift

Yeah, if they haven't been opened, hopefully the recipient is none the wiser.
