In my wandering around the net, I have found some more tidbits of information about the holiday season that I thought you might find interesting. Here are the ones I found most interesting: * The devilish companion to Santa Claus who punishes naughty children in folklore is named Krampus. He is from Germanic folklore. Though not widely believed his story is still told in many homes during Christmas. * It seems that the most popular Christmas single in the United States is still "White Christmas" sung by Bing Crosby. An estimated 50 million copies have been sold. * The origin of the pickle is unknown but it is said that the person who finds the pickle in the Christmas tree gets good luck and an extra Christmas present. These seem to be most popular in the Midwestern states. * In 1997 TNT, owned by Turner Broadcasting, played a 24-hour marathon of "A Christmas Story" from 8p. Christmas Eve until 8p. Christmas day. Since then it has become so popular that both TNT and TBS (both owned by Turner Broadcasting) air this marathon. The picture is from my collection.

I've never heard of that pickle tradition.
