We had a lovely birthday dinner last night for our granddaughter Kristin at a raw oyster bar. I don't like oysters, but I enjoyed shrimp and grits and delicious hushpuppies with sorghum butter. I gave her our traditional gift of my home made chocolate mint squares. She's learning to make them, also. I texted her I'm passing the torch to her to be the family maker of them, so the tradition will continue at Christmas after I'm gone. She texted back, "Oh good grief." I think she wants to believe I'll live forever. Well, I will, just not on this earth. Tammy and Jay are cooking our Christmas Eve dinner this afternoon. It's kind of rainy, but the important part is being together. I pray each of you will be comforted and blessed as we celebrate the birthday of that sweet Baby Jesus.
