I'm sitting in my recliner. I just turned the swag lamp off. The faux wood heater glows; its faux wood burns merrily. Hubby is coming down the steps from our upper floor. Santa stands in the front porch to the left of me, his light bulb lit jollity fun for passersby. Our little Christmas tree sheds white light from its place on the Grandma table. This aged house has its groans and sighs. I call her Grace. She has managed to stand upright for 125 years. I worry about her plaster walls and roof. I wonder what Christmas has been like for her all these years? My husband and I are Grace's second owners- or caretakers- though I think many of her years she's been used as a rental. Many of Grace's windows have been modernized. I'm grateful for it even as I treasure the large elderly plate glass window to my left. And the odd sized rectangular window by the staircase. I'm grateful for the cozy sentimentality of this season. Something in the legends, the sagas, the tales, resonates in me and with me. I am fortunate that this season has given me many Yule Tales. God, how long have I been dipping into the Legends and the Drama? Over twenty years of Tales have dripped out of my pen. I wonder what will jump out next time around? Merry days to one and all. Whatever and however you celebrate or if you sleep through it all, may it be good for you cause yes, you are special and a good and worthy human.
