My Christmas present to you: this is the last punk song. Hope everyone is having a good day today. I am eating beef, potatoes, and carrots at the moment and ready to celebrate our great myLotters @JudyEv and @JStory07 — the Judy Brigade! Unlike your opinion of this song, they are great people. Here it is.
#5: Judy Says (Knock You in the Head) - The Vibrators
Now, with a title like that, and a band name like that, and a screen grab like that, I’m sure you can tell this is NOT a Barry Manilow cover band. The Vibrators had it all over the Sex Pistols; but, given that they didn’t puke or kill their girlfriends like Sid Vicious, they didn’t get nearly the press (spelled notoriety) in America. Infinitely better band.
And this, while not a big hit (never charted in America and only made it to #70 in the UK), is pretty influential. You’ll hear that guitar riff in the Violent Femmes’ “Special;” and, if you slow this song down, you’ll hear heavy influence on Richard Thompson’s song “I Feel So Good.”
Of course, you don’t know either of those acts, and you probably don’t remember The Vibrators, either. Lots of undiscovered music out there.
