When I was grewing up my Mother always made a special meal on New years Day. It was a roast or ham and sometimes even a turkey again. I used to love having a roast it was really good.
One year my Dad had shoot a couple of ducks so we had those ducks for New Years. It was a tradition that lasted until all of us left home and than my Mother never made any big meals for any holidays.
Do you make any special meal for New Years?

We had special meals when I was growing up too. After I was married I continued the tradition. We usually have ham or pork steaks and definitely black eyed peas for good luck.

My mom always made sure to have pork, usually ham, and cabbage, usually sauerkraut, for New Year's Day.

I will be in Orissa on New Year's eve. So let's see what we get there!

My aunt used to make beans, cabbage, and cornbread for New Year’s. “Supposed to bring good luck,” they say. Gave me indigestion.
I guess my New Year’s “traditional” meal anymore is chicken taco salad at Chuy’s.
