Happy Boxing Day

Happy Boxing Day. It IS a thing here in Canada. It has changed over the years, but it is still a paid stat holiday. The retail sector is open today, they want to pull in as many after Christmas sales as they can. There are no returns usually until after the new year. I have no desire to go out and buy discounted Christmas items. In years and decades gone by Boxing Day was treated as version 2.0 of Christmas. Many families did (and some still do) treat it as the day to celebrate Christmas. Often families split up when they can gather depending on traditions to gather for in-laws and out of towners. Our generation used to gather on Boxing Day for family gatherings with my Dad's side of the family, and on my husband's side, his mother's people would gather on that day. It was always alot of fun, you would pace yourself starting on the 24th as far as how much you ate, so as not to over-eat over the 3-day affair. This year I intend on seeing how my husband gets along with starting the 3-D puzzle that I got for him which is actually a working wall clock, once he puts that together too. I may make a batch of cookies. He got me a really nice stand mixer, which I have never had, it will make really light work of mixing dough up now. Happy Boxing Day, how do you celebrate? ~Photo is mine

Stand mixer is good. Does it come with a paddle attachment? So many of the more complex requirements (recipes) require that. I bought one of those mixers once which weighed a ton. I thought I would use it often, never did..and ended up reselling it

@Juliaacv Good. The one I had was an older model and it easily weighed 40 or 50 lbs

@snowy22315 And........I just finally ordered myself a robot vacuum. I have always wanted one, but I never thought it practical, it would chase the dog, it would tumble down the stairs, etc, but today I treated myself and ordered one.

I saw a really reasonably priced one at Stokes, and I showed it to him online, it came with the mixing bowls and 3 attachments, a hook, paddle and a bread dough one. It is heavy, but not a ton. I put it in a spot on the kitchen counter where I should be able to remove the covering (I am keeping it under plastic for now) and then turn it sideways and plug it in.

Happy Boxing Day I never heard of this holiday until maybe a decade or so ago. It’s not celebrated here. Have a nice day.

There are about 40 or 45 countries that celebrate today. It is nice to have a day to relax after such a busy season, or continue to celebrate, depending on your family situation.

Thanks, it is a lazy day here today. It is amazing how much energy this month sucks out of a person, or at least how much it sucked out of this person.

@wolfgirl569 I used to be more of a high energy person, but that is fading.

That sounds like a great family gathering. Do you skype or facetime with your sons on Christmas at all?

I would like to experiment with it this weekend. I wanted to do that yesterday, but I was just so tired. This month has been exhausting and it isn't over just yet, I have to work today.

It would be cool if Americans celebrated Boxing Day. I’m sure my family would really get into it. I bet your husband loved the 3D puzzle!

I love Boxing Day, it is such a great day to do whatever your little heart desires during a month when there are so many obligations. He did love the puzzle but he is chilling today and hasn't made any motion to work on it. Maybe on the weekend, I know once he starts he will not be able to put it down.

A 3-D puzzle huh? A working wall clock? That's so cool. We don't have Boxing Day here. I hope you have a nice one.

It was a very relaxing day here today. My hubs didn't even attempt the puzzle today, maybe on the weekend. He is concerned because this clock has a pendulum and it chimes on the hour, and we have a mantle clock which also chimes on the hour. It could get kinda noisey around here every 60 minutes.

Happy Boxing Day! hope you had a wonderful Christmas. Mine was really nice but I'm exhausted from all the celebrating. No shopping for me today even though I got some nice gift cards and am tempted to spend them.

Thank you, yes, I had an incredibly wonderful Christmas too. It was magical really. I wouldn't rush out to spend your gift cards, most of the stores are usually all picked over from Christmas Eve shoppers.
