The day after

Hubby and I went to a friend's house for Christmas dinner. Friend didn't tell us that she had also invited a bunch of family. Anyway, both turkey and ham was on the menu. Friend's hubby had cooked the turkey on the barbecue outside on the patio though it was a blustery, rainy day. He brought the turkey in- sliced it and oh my on the red innards. Not cooked well. Friend microwaved the turkey. I eat very little meat. The ham appealed to me the most so I ate a little of that. Hubby ate a little turkey. You guessed it. Hubby has been ill today. Poor guy. Weak and having stomach issues. He wanted broth and tea earlier and finally some apple slices. This evening he sounds stronger. He wanted a peanut butter sandwich- by that he meant home peanut butter smeared between two home sugar cookies. So he must feel better. I don't want to tell friend that her food made hubby ill. I hope nobody else has gotten sick. Its a touchy situation to talk about.

Oh, I'm so sorry. Food poisoning is so, so miserable. Cooking poultry well is just a given, never serve any that is not done. I hope he feels better very soon, Lenore!

@MarieCoyle Tommy Sands "Down Among the bushes of Jerusalem!" is what he is singing. Powerful song about Jesus as a rebel and a great tune.

@sallypup My Grandfather used to sing ''When Irish Eyes Are Smiling'' every morning while he shaved. I am glad he is feeling better now!

Oh, boy. It probably did make others sick if it made him sick. I’m so sorry it turned out that way, but I’m relieved to hear he was able to eat something today. Sugar cookies were ambitious too!

Oh no. That turkey must've been way undercooked . . . sorry to hear he got sick like that. It's very possible others got sick too - someone might tell the friend.

Under-cooked chicken is just the worst for stomach upsets. I wonder how her own family fared. What a shame your Christmas was spoilt in this way.

What an unfortunate turn of events especially around the holidays it’s probably best to just focus on helping hubby recover fully and give him peanut butter sandwiches so he will get better soon
