Nothing Else Mattered

Every year I do up a box for the twins for Christmas. I put a few pairs of pants in it, a couple of tops and a warm sweater or this year it was a white sweatshirt with cute little pink bows on it. I also put in a book of M&M candies. Harper did not get past the M&M's but was so happy with those that it seemed as if nothing else mattered. Have you ever given anyone something so small and trivial that they loved so much? ~Photo is mine

That’s the cutest. My mom was that way about the Lifesaver candy “books” at Christmas. I’ve related the story about how it was her favorite Christmas gift as a child, so that was always something I got her as an adult. My late grandma said that was always what she asked about growing up. Not dolls or makeup as she got older, just the Lifesaver candy books. And Christmas Day, that’s the first thing she searched for, and got into.

@Juliaacv You’re the only Mylotter I ever sent that too. I knew, I knew, you’d value the love behind it.

I remember this story, and you sent me a lifesavers book all of those years ago. I still remember the feeling that I had when I opened the box.

Often times the small things are the best

This was just that. She opened an alexa and just tossed it aside. She knew what it was, but because it had to be taken out of the box and set up, it wasn't too thrilling to her.

Not sure, but I can't imagine any little kid liking clothes more than toys or candy. Give them 10 or 11 years for that..

Oh they got a big box of legos too, and they like looking at each other boxes and seeing the matching clothing. They giggle when they do that.

Her feet are smaller than her Sissy's are. A few of the stepping stones in the background are new. They have quite a stack of them now, and they do love them.

There have been times. The last few years we were still living in NYC mom and I and she was getting on in years I showered her with Christmas presents and even though she liked them all there were one or two she liked the best,

That is good, I remember the last few years of my mother-in-law's life I was able to gift her things that she just adored. That made me feel really good.

Thanks, her parents don't give her chocolate like Grandpa and I tend to.

Not me, back in the day I didn't have much money to spend on gifts so I only gave what I could afford, I don't know if anyone liked what they got but on Christmas Eve when they opened them they seemed pleased with them.

For what I spent on the other items that she received, the M&M's were the least costly.

My niece was a big fan of M&M and she was not even a little girl anymore.

The girls don't get any chocolate from their parents, it is more from Grandpa and me.

I love the lifesavers ones, this is more for littles who aren't into hard candy yet.

Me too. I gave a co-worker some peanut ones and she told me that she ate them later on that day, she just couldn't stop.

This has happened to me a few times, most often when I've managed to buy something that I knew someone really wanted but was pretty inconsequential to anyone else.

My husband's cousin was over the moon with the personalized mug that I got her. It had her favorites -- a hummingbird and the inside and handle of the mug was pink. And, of course, it had her name on it. I never thought she'd be so excited over a mug. Have a good weekend. Cute picture.
