I hope you had a good Christmas, or whatever you celebrate

I had planned on staying home. My brother goes with his wife to see her grandkids. My sister lives out of state. The roommate is off visiting her family. However, my best friend contacted me and said that her niece declined to go, as she does most years, she likes that overtime for working on the holiday since she also doesn't have kids or grandkids. Yes, she's old enough, I met a lady back in the late '80s or early '90s who was a grandmother two and a half times at 40. (Half because one was on the way.) So, I went to be with her and her two surviving siblings. However, after sleeping on the bed I bought, and one that I only ever plan to use off and on while visiting her, for two nights and then driving home two hours, I started having muscle spasms. Yesterday I only had them while standing or turning wrong, today it is worse! Before I left town, I knew I was going to have to come home and buy cat food! However, after yesterday, I also knew I was not going to be able to off load the cat food without help. So, I contacted my guy friend and asked if he could come over and help, meaning either today (Friday) or tomorrow. He came today. He put the food in the bin and I went out and fed them. Then I asked him one more favor. You see, there had been a case of water on the rolling cart that I needed unloaded before I could take it out for the cat food. I dropped a bottle on my toe. It hurt. However, when I went to pick up that naughty bottle, I saw I was bleeding. I went in, wiped most of the blood off and put a bandaid on it. Now, I can see it pretty good standing, but I can't touch it and if I can touch it, well, it is too far from my close up glasses (reading/computer) to see. He did that, I thanked him and sent him off. The roommate had thought she was going to come home in a few days... but now her brother-in-law is in the hospital. So, while I normally have no problem doing things around the house, tonight I hope I didn't alarm the neighbors when I yelped in pain trying to do things like... bring the dog in... I hope the rest of you have had a better day than I have! Let me know, did you see family? Do anything fun? My family used to go to the movies on Christmas, been years since I've done that.

Yeah, I had the back door open when I was yelping in pain last night, but it was late enough I doubt anyone heard anything because they were inside.

@2ndchances24 I don't think I've had anything quite like these! I've had Charlie Horses, but those are just in the leg. Granted I couldn't get up those hurt so badly, and these weren't quite so bad, but they are very close!

I'm looking at much earlier Christmases. I think the last time I went to a movie on Christmas was before Mom passed in 2010. I went with my brother and sister. I think my brother might've had his current girlfriend with him.

@Candybee oh, there's lots of losses when you get to my age... I lost a good friend in 2017 and my wife in 2022.

I’m glad you weren’t alone on Christmas. While I spent Christmas Eve with my dad, my plans for Christmas Day changed after all three of my sister’s children got sick. Since her family wouldn’t be at the extended family gathering, and it was such a long drive, I stayed home too. Next week though, we’ll go see my sister and her family so they can open the presents I got them.

I hope you have a good visit with your sister and the kids are over whatever they have and don't pass it on to you. Wash your hands. In fact, maybe take a wipe and wipe down all the door knobs and light switches!

Me too. The toe doesn't really hurt, if I don't touch it... I'm not sure what I'm going to be able to do with my back before Monday since I have PT.

I have backed away from my in-laws. There isn't much I've done. I only have an older brother and a younger sister. My sister has built a life in Tennessee, I think she's up to a 24 hour hike. I am not, I haven't been for about 10 years now.

@rakski my best friend's nephew, her sister's son, was left in San Antonio while his wife went to take a job in Louisiana and stay with her sister. Last time she did that, she had a big screaming fight with her brother-in-law. I am surprised she is being allowed to stay there. So, my friend drove to San Antonio to get him. Now, the near end of San Antonio is an hour away. Depending on where he's staying is the distance. I have a blow up mattress there as well as the bed, and I said he could sleep on it. Neither are welcome on my bed. My friend lives with her brother and sister. My friend is 8 months older than I am, her brother is about 4 years older and her sister is 10 years older. This is why she went. I think her sister came as well. I suggested they tell him to take the wife off the bank account. And if he really thinks she's found someone else, to report the car stolen.

Thank you! And a very Happy and Good New Year to you. At least it isn't cold, yet. They were predicting 80º today, if the sun came out, looks like it is going to be that warm on Monday now.

I worked with a gal who was 30 and had a 15 year old son. She was let go while I was on vacation, but I fully understood why, she was often late, and goofed off a lot. I don't think her son got a gal pregnant, but how would I find out?
