Short story: A chat over a back fence, between two elderly gents

An older man was talking to his neighbour, also old, over the back fence, about his life, and he told him that life had brought him much pain, and that he had had to live through many a dark, and horrendous, moment.
His neighbour, took in a deep breath, and then he replied.
"Life, and we could also call this the light, or even God, never takes you to a completely dark place, of only pain. There is always, still there, an element of light, and love, there for you to find."
The old man frowned.
"That is all very well for you to say, as you are a retired clergyman."
"How could you know, that even if what you said had an element of truth in it for yourself, how could you know that it, that element of your truth, has applied in my life too?"
The retired minister took in another deep breath, and then, one more still, and then, he finally replied.
"Love lives in all things, as if it didn't, all would be dead, and where there is life, there is always some love."
"Letting that love reach you, even in darkness, allows it to eventually raise you up to yourself, rather than you sinking down, lower than your real self, to a shadow of yourself, based on the darkness of a darkened mind, not the light of an enlightened heart."
"Ok,"
said the old man.
"I cannot argue with your logic, as if God exists, what you say, is plausibly true, but what if there is no God? "
The other man added this final word about God.
"I have worked closely with God all of my life, and when we acknowledge God as real, his realness comes out of the world then to meet, and to greet us, too."
"We all need to try to at least work with God in this way, as otherwise, we will never find God."
"Give God a chance, and you will find the luck of the chance coming true, and real, for you, is then increased in your life too."
And so, the two men then went back to their respective houses.
As each then turned backwards, and glanced at each other again, they then both saw a bird on their fence, and each wondered silently to themselves, how long that bird had been there. They both had not noticed it before.
We need to try to notice the light still in the darkness, with our hearts, or otherwise, we will just not see it, with a continuing darkened mind.

Try to always see, the love, always seated nearby to yourself, in all aspects of life.

That is really good, if we can do that, especially, when a bad situation happens to us, like when somebody deliberately cuts us off, while we are driving our car, for example, if we can still try to see the love, and good, available to us, even in that situation.

I do not see how God can really be all-knowing, as if he has granted us free choice in some ways, he couldn't know what we will do next, as otherwise, it would not be a real free choice. He knows possibilities, but lets us choose which one to take, I guess.
Yes, if God is all, we must remain a part of him, even if we try to cut our part of him off from us, or refuse to acknowledge it, one part of us must still always remain connected to God, as otherwise, he would be running blind, if he allowed the cutting off of one of his big toes to spite his foot.
A part of us, always stays pure, loving, and God like, as it contains God within it, and we can never rid ourselves of this part, nor make it impure, in any way. When we ignite, and connect to, this oil of God within us, we shine forth then with the light of God.

@Shiva49 If God really knows all that we do, such as even what we had for breakfast this morning, it would seem to me, that he doesn't give us much leeway, but monitors us overwhelmingly, which to my mind would be a privacy invasion too. He leashes us to himself, like his dog, then.
Perhaps, he closes off his mind, until we ask him to come closer to us, but, yes, everything is God's creation, so all that we do, we should do that, with that in mind too.
We should live in the world, unlimited by our own limitations, and we can only do that with God's help.

@innertalks It can be in the sense that God knows what we do and also when we underperform, not doing justice to the inborn talents that he has generously endowed us with.
On the other hand, he will also be aware of those punching above their weight to help those in need.
We tend to ignore the wisdom God has given us to make wise choices as our ego takes over our way of life. We do not seem to learn the basic truth of "united we stand, divided we fall".
If we live with an awareness that everything is God's creation, we will be at another level of higher consciousness.
