We are hours away from 2025. I was wondering if anyone makes new year resolutions anymore. Have you made them in the past? How long did they last? Do you have special food on New Year's Day or is it just another macaroni day? Do you think things in the world will be better this coming year? Why or why not? Happy New Year, everyone!

I have a running resolution to lose weight. For decades I've had pork roast and sauerkraut for New Year's Day. Unfortunately my husband's 2nd cousin won't be coming because of the Lake Effect Snow Warning. 2024 was not a good year for my husband and me. I can only hope 2025 is better. Happy New Year!!!

Many of us try to lose weight. There is good food that tempts us. I wish you and your husband the best year ever in 2025.

I'd tell you what I am making tonight—well, for New Year's Day as I write this—but then it would spoil my comment on your next "meals" post. lol

@akalinus Thank you very much. There is too much temptation around the holidays. I was given a whole lot of my favorite candies for Christmas. I will need to get rid of the pounds I gained from THAT!

New Year's Eve will likely be a quiet time this evening until some fireworks will be going off around midnight.

I heard some popping last night. Someone had fireworks. Were you anywhere near that guy who ran his truck over 50 people? That is the first news I read in the new year. I hope the rest is better. Happy New Year.

@Deepizzaguy I felt so bad for those people on Bourbon Street. They were just trying to have some fun and they got mowed down by some weirdo in a truck. Police terminated him and it is being spoke of as a terrorist attack on New Year's Day.

@akalinus Lake Charles is around 206 miles away from New Orleans even though I have relatives who live around 50 miles north of New Orleans.

No; I don't do anything special on the new year's day. Actually our Hindu new year falls in April. It is called the "Varsh Pratipada".I celebrate the Hindu New Year. But I observe fast on that day.I just pray and read the Ramayana; one of our holiest scriptures. I join my Christian friends to celebrate Christmas We celebrate Christmas atop the hillock I visit every early morning. I think we are heading for the third world war...

Thanks for telling me about the Hindu New Year. I thought about you and your Christian friends on the hill above the jungle. I was telling my friend about your invitation two or three years ago to join you. I dread heading for WW111. It will be the worst thing we ever experienced. Let there be peace on earth!

@akalinus You are always most welcome to join us next year. I remember I had invited you. The third world war will be apocalyptic. But we are ordinary persons. Our destinies will be decided by the rulers who have the right to take the decision. God's will will prevail. Don't worry.Worry makes us die a thousand times before we actually die.I don't worry; nor am I afraid.

Nope. No New Year's resolutions for me. The last resolution I made was to never again make resolutions and it is the only one I ever kept. Happy New Year.

I think there are more important things to do than make resolutions that might not last through the week. I only make I resolution every year and that is to treat every person who crosses my path as the most important person on earth for that moment. I fail miserably.

Ah, Inner peace sounds heavenly. We are roasting a turkey sometime this week when it thaws out. What we eat with it depends on the day.

@grenery8 it is good to eat anytime. Leftover turkey can be used in lots of ways, casseroles, sandwiches, and whatever you want to do with it..

I make birthday resolutions instead. Same concept, but more personal to me. I also don't usually share what they are, kind of like a secret mission. lol

I did try the New Year's resolutions a few times and it had failed miserably. I have seen the same with people I am aware of as well and well now I do not make any New Year resolutions. Instead I keep short term goals and work on those in a timebound manner. It has a better success rate for me atleast. I usually have Pizza for the New Year and well this time had home cooked ones for a change. And as far as World getting better or things better, we can be hopeful . We can never predict the future and well lets hope things get better for everyone. Well, enjoy your time!

Things look like they are getting worse. I hope it improves. I'm glad your short-term goals work better. Pizza sounds good. I love it.
