The Old Year, Trump the Putz and, the New Year

I am really trying to get ready for a nice and non-eventful new year. My family has some things going on that are nerve-wracking at best and I hope they get finalized and in a positive way here soon. I plan to get to my medical doctor this summer and hope to get a good report. I haven't been for several years, I just do telehealth. I'm not sure if I will go to the eye doctor yet. My eyes are both doing well. I got a cataract in one eye a couple of years ago and the surgery was nice, almost enjoyable. I hope the second one will be as nice when it is time for it. My hearing is fine too so no worries in either area. My body seems to be doing fine. All organs are well and accounted for with meds for some things. It's my mind that is still hovering. Major depression is no fun but, over the years, I have learned some ways to cope. It still grabs me off guard from time to time. It's not even seasonal anymore.
There is an old superstition that you are to leave your windows and doors open as the clock strikes midnight on New Year's Eve so that the past year blows away and the new year will usher itself in, bringing good luck and fortune. Well, it is a little hard to get good luck and fortune for this country with a blowhard like Donald "The Rump" Trump being inaugurated on January 20th. I must really try hard to bite my lip this coming year. So many who voted him in are feeling badly about their choices now but, alas, nothing can be done for 4 years. I wonder what the outcome would be if the election was done over. Hmm. But, with the "help" Putin gave him it might be the same old same old. Ugh! His choices for his cabinet and continued idiocy will keep me laughing/grimacing and give me plenty of material for my posts.
I hope you are all doing well and are enjoying the little group we have here on Mylot. There are one or two out of the group that pop in with odd comments now and then but, I figure it takes all kinds to make a world and a few weirdos aren't to be taken seriously. Their ideas are rather pathetic and I feel badly for them. Their belief in Trump is astounding and I kind of pity them. But, luckily, they don't come in often so that is to be thankful for. Others who come in occasionally are cute and I enjoy their input.
How will you be celebrating the new year? I will be watching the fireworks around the world right here at home with the window open. I heard some fireworks this morning and thought that rather strange.
I hope we all have a grand and prosperous new year. Happy New Year!

We're doing the Japanese tradition of NYE food stuff as we do every year. Tomorrow morning we have my mom over for Japanese NY food stuff. All about the food - but on a small scale - nothing terribly fancy. I have some serious concerns about how things are going to be next year for our country . . . but I cannot get down about it - can't. Wishing you and your family a wonderful New Year . . . we'll definitely "see" you then on myLot of course!

I try not to stress over the politics but Trump just bugs me too much. And i am proud of this country snd don't want to see him bring it down. Your Japanese food stuff sounds interesting. Different is always interesting.

@celticeagle I know, The Putz is truly a PUTZ! And everyday that goes by, I hear something new about him that confirms it. Shaking my head. May we all get through this. And yah, the food stuff went well .

Well, 2025 will be better then 2024 was. George actually got the year right when trying to talk to the neighbor. Usually when asked the year he'll say somethng different every time. Just depends on how he's feeling.

Ah, dear George. He tries and that is what counts.

I’ll be posting a song on Facebook and probably finding a rabbit hole to crawl down. Nothing unusual, in other words.

My husband's 2nd cousin was supposed to come over and make a pork roast and sauerkraut dinner; but with the Lake Effect S**w Warning, we are going to delay it. It will be the first time in decades that I haven't had the traditional "good luck" meal on New Year's Day. I would get an eye exam if I were you. You will be tested for glaucoma. I have glaucoma; and you can lose your sight without daily drops. Just sayin'. Happy New Year!!!
