Not what I ordered

There’s an option to do order pickup at our Walgreens/Duane Reade pharmacy chain. I sometimes do that if it turns out it will cost me less to buy the items online than at my local store.
I sometimes also do pickup if what I want to get is out of stock at my store. I select a different pickup location where those items are available and that ensures I get everything I need. I don’t have to worry about the items not being available anymore once I get there.
I needed to get toothpaste, floss, and coffee, all of which were on sale at Walgreens/Duane Reade. Plus there were also $2 off coupons for the toothpaste and floss. My location was out of the coffee so I did order pickup at a different location.
I got to the store and picked up my order and was about to leave when I decided to check the bag to make sure everything was correct. Glad I did that because the toothpaste I ordered was not the one in the bag.
I ordered Colgate whitening paste 5.1 oz. In the bag was Colgate whitening gel 4.8 oz. I went to the cashier and explained what happened. She told me to go to the shelf and grab the correct toothpaste. When I came back to the register she attempted to do an exchange. I told her the toothpaste had a $2 off coupon and I wanted to make sure I won’t lose that coupon when she processes the exchange. She was about to proceed with the exchange but then decided against it. She was worried she’d screw something up. Instead she just told me to take the toothpaste I got from the shelf and call it a day.
Definitely glad I checked the bag before leaving the store. Wonder why the wrong toothpaste was in the bag. The order clearly shows I did not order the gel toothpaste.

Likely someone wasn't looking clsely when packing up the order.

At first I thought maybe I had made a mistake when ordering but turned out it wasn’t the case.

@lovebuglena It's understandable. Real people have to get the items, from somewhere.

My mom ordered me belts. They don’t fit me and need to be returned. There’s no packing slip or order printout in the package. And seems my mom accidentally deleted the order email. She does have a screenshot of order number and items, though not the cost or card used. I wonder if she will be able to use that to make the return at an actual store. Mailing it back is an option but it will cost $9.95 to do that.

Good to always check. Whether an error, hangover or trying to rip off customers we just never know for sure.

Yep. Never know. Better to check before leaving the site than dealing with it later if something is wrong.

Sometimes the pickers don't pay close attention to the orders. I'm glad you got your toothpaste. Have a good day.
