Hello everyone and welcome to 2025!
I haven’t been here for a few days, things just got too busy. The disadvantage with the Christmas/new year holiday is that it’s so broken up it doesn’t really feel like a real holiday at all. You get a couple of days off which are taken up with Christmas preparations, then Christmas and Boxing Day, then a few more days when you are often committed to see family etc., then another day or two free, then new year’s eve which may or may not be some sort of ‘event’, then a day or two off and then back to work.
So do you feel like you’ve had a ‘proper’ holiday? Hope you have had an enjoyable time anyway!
Today it’s really miserable and wet here, so a rather dreary start to the year. Although after the rain stopped being flung at the windows it was actually not that bad outside, just very dull and damp. Hopefully the weather will get better!
But since it’s so dreich here today I thought I’d show you this bright picture of a bee that I saw in town one day. Not sure if it’s some sort of official artwork or whether it is a form of graffiti but I liked it anyway!
So here’s to a good year for all MyLotters in 2025!

Well not a lot happens between Christmas and New Years unless you're religious and celebrate things like Hononcia or Kwansia.

I like the bee. We have nothing but s**w and cold in the forecast. Could get a bunch of the white stuff...I hope not. I'm retired so my holidays aren't chopped up!!! Have a good day.

I love the picture - absolutely love it. Today it was bright and sunny, but chilly. It topped off at 50 degrees Fahrenheit. I feel like Christmas just went by too quickly, but (I think) that’s because Americans celebrate Thanksgiving. It feels like with just a month between Thanksgiving and Christmas, I haven’t had enough time to take in Christmas.

I had that party for poor kids and the extended family visited me. I felt quite Christmassy.

It's not such a big thing now that I am retired, but I always saw the extra time off during the holidays as a double-edged sword. You had some breaks, but they were all filled with parties and gatherings and preparatory things to do. So, it was almost like you didn't ever really get to enjoy the extra time off.
