Why are they in such a hurry?

Today is only the second day of the new year but government schools opened their new session today. Yesterday, children were immersed in celebration. Today , I saw children dragging themselves to their schools. Perhaps the holidays could extend to 5 January. On the other side, I must agree that the holidays were rather too long for them. The annual examinations were over by the end of November. They were home almost the whole of December. They visited their schools only to bring their results and for re-admission. The re-admission could be done by their guardians. They didn't need to be show themselves at school office. Considering those factors, reopening schools soon after the new year revelry is a good policy. However, if I were the education minister I would have kept the schools open till 10th or 12th of December. Fortunately for the students, I am just an ordinary guardian! My opinion doesn't bear any weight for the government authorities!

They had a long vacation. Kids here got out of school just before Christmas and went back yesterday.

Growing up, we got two full weeks off for the Christmas holiday, and that was the perfect amount for me. We had enough time to decompress from finals, and we enjoyed the rest of the holiday. I went to a Christian school though, so we made our own schedule.

I don't with the school managements -- some schools opened right after the New Year. If I am the student, I will feel the same dragging myself.

In Australia, pupils have two weeks off in April, June and September then six weeks over Christmas/New Year. You'd wonder how teachers are able to get through their curriculums with so many breaks.

Yeah children are really enthusiastic about New Year. I think they should be allowed to feel happy because with age, melancholy catches up. I am already melancholic at the age of 21.
