Arctic air from the Prairies blowing across the Great Lakes brings dire warnings of accumulations up to 60 centimeters!! In case you still haven't managed to understand metric, a standard 750 ml bottle of wine stands 30 cm tall. So stack up two bottles (if you can) and that's how much snow is expected today and tomorrow. The Great Lakes are ice-free so the wind will pick up moisture from them. As of 9:47 am Friday there's only a scattering of ice pellets in my St Catharines neighborhood. It's minus 2°C but supposed to warm up to plus 2°C.

We had about 4" the last time I looked; but the radar has been showing lake effect s**w without a break. It's also going to be bitter cold for the next week. I hate winter!!! Have a good weekend and stay warm.

Nothing overnight and the sun is shining but it's windy out there and minus 2°C/28°F. I won't be going anywhere today.

I know how much 60 cm of snow it is, when I went outside and it passed my knee for a palm of my hand it was 60 cm.

It's reading discussions like this that make me happy that I live in Florida! Although I shouldn't gloat, we are expected to get hit with a great Arctic blast between January 8-10. No snow and ice like you get, but temps will plummet well below freezing. I'm not looking forward to that at all. I hope you manage to stay warm, and hopefully you won't have to get out and travel in all that snow!
