Trump to be sentenced on January 10th?

I just stumbled across this on my news feed. It appears Trump will be sentenced for the convictions on 34 felony counts involving his hush money payments to Stormy Daniels on January 10th. But it looks like he will not have to do prison time, at least until after he is our of office as "President." This could mean I lose a bottle of single malt Scotch to my friend Michael. Michael got me drunk and got me to to bet that Trump would "do time." Michael said that Trump might be convicted (he since has been), but that he would never actually see the inside of a prison cell. What's odd is that Trump has been convicted of what I consider to be the least of his felonies. Stealing and hiding classified documents might have been punishable by death only a century or so ago, as might trying to undermine the results of an election. I'll have to do some reading on "treason." So far as I know, Stormy Daniels has been paid, but I don't think that writer lady (Carrol?) has been yet. Trump continues to stumble along. What do you think Trump's sentence will be?
In an extraordinary turn, a judge Friday set President-elect Donald Trump's sentencing in his hush money case for Jan. 10 — little over a week before he's due to return to the White House — but indicated he wouldn't be jailed. The development nevertheless

I remember them referring to Reagan in that way. But Reagan was not a "bad man." Even as I disagreed with many of his policies, I would have gone horseback riding with him had he invited me.

@TheHorse I never heard about him having a pet. He's too into himself. I think I heard he doesn't like dogs. For

@snowy22315 Attitudes toward animals say lot about a person. I have no idea what pets were present in Trump's White House. Or at Mar-a-Largo.

His dementia seems pretty severe. I do not know how long he can last. But I want him to see (at some level) what he has done. If the US survives (as a Democracy), I do not want to see others try to emulate him.

It is people's fault to have voted for him despite knowing how wicked he is.

We have to examine why so many people are dissatisfied with themselves in the US.

It likely will get thrown out, if Trump doesn't pardon himself. Which he might do.

@TheHorse If it's stated as a fellony, then yeah. It would be a federal charge. Either way, it's highly unlikely Trump will serve any time for anything.

@kaylachan There are not felony charges at the State level? Time for me to do some research. Sigh.

That's what I am thinking as well. Could a Dictatorship really occur in the United States? I have money in the bank and I am armed. But I am still "uncertain."

He won't do any time or have pay even a fine. About the only thing that will happen is he will be a felon for the rest of his days. Of course his legal team will appeal and try to get even that done away with. It is amazing to me how much this jerk has gotten away with. The Jean Carrol case is about the only real justice I've seen. We will have to wait and see about the rest. He's a pathetic human.

Some of my Liberal friends get mad at me for feeling sorry for him. But as a psychologist, it is a part of my job to have compassion toward others, especially those with mental illness issues. Trump is a dangerous man, but he is also, as you say, a pathetic man. Can you imagine what its like to BE him? I would help him if I could. But malignant narcissism, like borderline personality disorder, is difficult to treat.

It’s certainly a fascinating and complex situation, with so many layers to Trump’s legal challenges. The January 10 sentencing for the hush money case does highlight how even relatively smaller offenses can carry significant consequences when handled through the legal system. That said, your friend Michael might have a point—Trump may avoid prison time for now, especially given the dynamics of being a former president.

Wow what a birthday present this would be for me. Oh just go for it. I doubt the Butt Head will get any time. But, yeah, add another conviction to his belt notch. Trump has really scarred America and I am NOT in the mood to forgive or forget.

I hope our traditional allies understand that this is not what most of us wanted. Heck, there are people in North Korea and Russia I would like to play music with. I hope they also understand that this man does not represent the people of our Country.

Some businesses are said to be too big to fail. And some seem to be above the law. We have to get used to some harsh realities, one of them being "All are equal, but some are more than equal"

You sense most of those trials were politically inspired to down trump and now hes won the Democrats lost interest. I do have sympathy for him somehow.

I doubt if something will actually happen or he will serve the prison for even a day. But yes, such news will keep coming and keep people intrigued and assuming things. It's more of entertainment news than the real action. Let's see what else keeps popping up in the coming days in flash news.
