It's time we depended more on society than our own family

I got that feeling when the extended family was here They came from different parts of the globe to attend an event that was put up by one of the nieces. It was pathetic that they hardly interacted with me - forgetting what I had done for them when they most needed help Moral of the story is get help from society and not from family How strong is your connection with your family?

My parents' generation had a lot of family support - almost all were immigrants from Japan who moved to the US. I have memories of the many gatherings and parties with family and extended family. But now they are either very elderly or have passed on. Plus family situations unfortunately soured. With MY generation - with cousins and whomever is still around - somehow we have all gone down separate roads. We "can" communicate if we wanted to, but none of us do. It's a shame.

This is now a global trend The NOW GENERATION as I prefer to call them only meet with the elderly at parties and there is no one on one interaction

@allknowing I often feel like the NOW GENERATION doesn't even know how to interact one on one. Their social media, group chats, etc are based communicating with as many people at the same time. Many now even shy away from speaking .

You can pick that way, but pick wisely, most not that different. A third of family is probably good. Society is probably 25 percent. I think society is actually going down here. In old days I might say 40 percent compared to families 33 percent. We not teaching well at all is what that tells me.
