I would like to say good morning, but we never made it to bed last night.

Believe me I tred. I just couldn't get George to budge or agree to go. So I didn't really sleep much last night, myself. I can't go to bed and leave him alone. As tempting as it is, he may not call for me and I'd rather not risk it. It's almost 11 A.M. and I'm working on waking him up so he can take meds, and I have to somehow get him on his feet because he hasn't moved since around eight last night. He's giving me the whole we can skip a night, but I really can't let him stay in his own pee. I kind of had to because the only to clean the couch would be to get him off of it and he wanted nothing to do with that.
I'll be trying again today to do something with it, but it's not going to be easy. Just one of the harder parts of being a caregiver. Finding that balance between leaving him alone and respecting his wishes and keeping him safe, dry and clean.
I get it, it hit 38 outside for a low and the air in our house can feel cool even if the heat is going. I've got it set on 74 which seems to be a nice balance and the heater can take a bit of a break. But won't be easy getting George to behave. I know how it feels to not want to get out from under something cozy and warm, but it has to be done.
Today's high is supposed to be 54 with an eleven degree windchill.

@2ndchances24 And, that's what I wound up doing. I'm going to have to get George to bed tonight because we have an appoitment at the VA tomorrow. Hopefully it won't be so much of a struggle.

@kaylachan I can see that. It's only 25 here and I had a hard time leaving my house to come to my friend's. I can't imagine what it would be like for him.

Have you ever tried putting pads on the couch so it doesn't get soaked? Just a suggestion. Have a good day.

Our couch is to narrow and built in an odd way finding ones that'd fit isn't easy. Plus, the pads don't really stop it because he's still wet.

I was raised with sad to say old fashioned values. I do not regret being tought in this way, but I am sad to see how the world has changed. And how little of us are left to pass on core values. Admittedly, I thought I hoped it would be another twenty years before I was in this position, but I am happy to do it.

Eek, that’s COLD. I’ve heard the “cold weather warning” on the Daytona Beach weather radio. My brother told me to cancel my doctor’s appointment on Friday and leave. I’m glad I didn’t (even though I did reschedule the appointment), because the Deep South is supposed to get an ice storm this weekend. Why drive into that? I’m safe and comfortable here, and the food and room are cheap.

Stay safe and warm, then. I'm glad Wednesday should be a bit warmer. 60 isn't anything special, but it is what it is. There should be sun. Today it's clouds which isn't helping the mood.

No, not really. I think the weather might've played a part in it. It's not uncommon for him to doze off on the couch here and there, But, when he realizes he's tired enough, he tends to go to bed. I am more concerned only because I know he's wet and in order to get him clean I have to get him off the couch.It's not wide enough to roll him to get under him effectivly. It's actually easier for him to do it himself, but if he doesn't want to then it becomes a battle of wills. He's lighter than me, but he's also a little taller.
