A powerful 7.1 earthquake struck Tibet near the border of Nepal on January 7, 2025. Hundreds were killed or injured and many homes were destroyed.
I feel for the people there. They lost everything in a few minutes and have to try to survive in frigid temperatures. They will need to start over.
Did you ever have to start over? Have you experienced a large earthquake? I have done both. It is not easy.
Can you tell us what happened to you?

I read about that this morning. I felt so badly for all the people affected. I have felt earthquakes, but not on the magnitude of one like this. I’m blessed to have never been in a natural disaster or human made disaster that took everything from me.

By God's grace I haven't lost everything to a natural disaster, however living here in western NC I can drive about 20-30 minutes from our home to see the beginnings of the devastation of hurricane Helene which slammed us Sept. 27th. There are still 100,000s of families who lost everything. Many living in tents on their property. All 212 of our western counties were affected by the storm, including ours.

@BACONSTRIPSXXX I think the drones were a diversion from something else but I'm not sure what. Everyone was obsessed with the drones and people were looking at the sky everywhere. I did and I am certain that I saw one. It was not an airplane and it moved in unusual ways. It was only one.
Why don't we see them anymore?

I had experienced earthquake twice. Both were mild earthquakes. Both lasted up to just five or seven seconds. The first one happened when I was returning from bank by motorcycle. I had to buy some postal tickets. I saw a heavy crowd near the post office. I asked a man what happened there. It was he who first informed me of the earthquake. I didn't feel any shaking perhaps because I was driving the motorcycle.
In 3 to 4 seconds the whole town came on roads They were afraid. That night many people did not sleep in their bedrooms. They didn't even enter their houses and spent the night in open fields where there were no buildings.

@Shivram59 I feel sorry for those poor people. They were driven out into the bitter cold and I don't think there is any help coming to them soon.

@akalinus I don't blame them either. I have watched the news of the earthquake in Tibet. They are horrible and shocking.

The largest earthquake we ever had was a 5.0. I've never totally lost everything. I feel for the people of Tibet, especially in the cold weather.
