It’s Raining Iguanas

With a polar vortex making Florida very frigid, we now have to be careful of falling cold-stunned iguanas from trees. I feel sorry for the poor iguanas.
Green iguanas, which are cold-blooded, were introduced to Florida decades ago from Central and South America. These poor creatures prefer hot to cold temperatures and have no idea what is happening. Everyone has to remember that finding iguanas on the ground does not mean they’re dead; they're just stunned by the cold and should be left alone.
Even if it’s not possible I am such an animal lover that I would even consider standing under trees blowing hot air through a hair dryer to help the iguanas,

@LeaPea2417 they should probably have been left in their native countries but then who knew Florida would get so cold,

@RebeccasFarm I am well layered, the cats have their fur coats, and in the front room where I sleep I put on the space heater at night,

It is a fun warning to give for the cold.

Yes, the perils of introduced species, which usually cause much problems for the people, as well as for the creatures themselves, sometimes too.
They brought cane toads here once (Australia) to try to control beetles that damage sugarcane crops.
They have spread quickly, and when native animals eat them, they die, as the toads carry a toxic venom in their skin.

I did not know about iguanas raining from the trees to the ground due to the cold weather.

I'll bet this is a great time to see manatees at the springs. I would imagine that a lot of the wildlife is stunned by the cold. Stay warm and have a great day.
