Insanity billing

I did not major in accounting when I went to University. For sure not me. I have been wrestling with my utility billing website. Did I get it to automatically deduct what I owe? Or didn't I? I hate being dinged extra money when I have nicely forked out money already. The city sent me a bill today: you owe just over forty five dollars. Was that true and if so, would I be dinged a thirty dollar fee for being over due? I discovered that the utility office was at lunch. After lunch I called them back: YES. Your bill is for sure on automatic payment now and you accidentally paid twice so you are getting a credit. AND that 45 dollar bill was mailed out before the computer deducted it so you don't owe it. Huge oh thank you God. I am glad I checked or I would have gone to their site and paid it. Ring around the Rosey. We all fall dead. And so does our pocket books.

I hate anything to do with calculating and mathematics, Luckily after I had ordered groceries last Saturday I could easily look on my banks website and see that they reimbursed me for money they took extra if it was needed,

That’s good it’s all taken care of then but certainly sounds a bit frustrating.

I tried calling the gas company a few days ago and only got a "digital assistant" that couldn't answer questions. I called back and told them I wasn't paying my bill until someone explained where the extra charge came from... They called me back the next day. Part of the charge was a "late fee" that I didn't owe because they take the payment out automatically and part of it was an oopsie on their part. They fixed my bill. I hate the computerized billing!

Thank goodness you were able to have your bills paid up despite an error from the billing department.
