I was pretty surprised and disappointed by Biden's eulogy for Jimmy Carter

I've been watching the funeral but on a couple of minutes delay because I went back to rewatch the arrival of former/current presidents and Kamala to review their interactions. I'm just at the end of it. It was a beautiful service befitting a man with a beautiful heart. I have to say that I was kind of shocked at the tone and content of Joe Biden's eulogy for a man he considered a friend. It sounded more like a political speech and an attack on Donald Trump than a remembrance of the amazing life and spirit of Carter. His remarks included: “We have an obligation to give hate no safe harbor. And to stand up to what my dad used to say is the greatest sin of all, the abuse of power. That’s not about being perfect, because none of us are perfect. . . We’re all fallible. But it’s about asking ourselves, are we striving to do things, the right things? What value – what are the values that animate our spirit? Do we operate from fear or hope? Ego or generosity? Do we show grace? Do we keep the faith when it’s most tested?” Yes it was appropriate to mention Carter's wonderful character but he harped on it and why it was important to not abuse power. Frankly I am surprised that his advisors allowed him to deliver it. If Biden wanted to make some political or parting shot then he could have held a press conference or statement at the White House. This funeral was not the appropriate place for that.

Biden doesn't know time and place. He can still give a good speach, but not alwaysthe right kind of speach. And really, that's just discusting. The man should not have been allowed to open his mouth.

@NJChicaa Actually, in that context, he didn't. Because yu even said it yourself, he should have not used it to go on a rant abuout trump and lost sight of what his speach should've been about. So , no he doesn't.

@kaylachan Oh. I thought you were trying to make a dementia reference. Yes it was not the right venue for that type of talk.

That is very unfortunate not to have the heartwarming feeling the speech should have had,
