...Which are so unhealthy really.
I do love them, but the sodium..sometimes I don't use the packet but even then the noodles are not so nutritious.
But rice and beans are good huh?
Do you have rice and beans often and if you do what do you make?
I usually add a ton of spices.

Yes, I always keep rice and beans in the pantry. I buy all different types of beans……..Pinto, kidney, black, black eyed peas, great northern, garbanzo, split pea, butter beans , lima beans. We like lentils too.

Depending on where you shop and how a slim of a budget you have, you can do a lot of things. I once had ten dollars and I had a loaf of bread and peanut butter and a box of mac and chease. I know you can get fresh or frozen foods that you can make a stir fry out of . There's a lot of things a person can do.

I had rice and beans today. I had cooked a pot of beans with a ham bone. There was a lot of tasty broth left, and very few beans. I cooked rice in the tasty broth. Ate a ham slice and some canned green beans along side. I also like rice with lots of seasonings and red beans. One of my other favorite go to's for a cheap meal is a baked or microwaved potato. You can add whatever to it and it is so filling and comforting. I got 5 lbs of russets for $1.99, I think that is even cheaper than ramen.

Ramen noodles is a favorite of my kids. It's much too salty. I use one herb and a little salt to the beans. We always have cornbread with it. Rice is something a lot of people like too. There's always lentils and nuts as well. Mushrooms are a good protein. Peanut butter and jelly is a good option as well.

I love ramen but in all honesty it really is unhealthy. The MSG gives me a headache - that keeps me from eating it. We eat all kinds of rice. Depending on the rice, we do fried rices, rice with lentils, saffron rice, etc - but we do plain. Beans - azuki is used more like a dessert - black bean is sweetened - they are Japanese things that I rarely make.

We've never been into beans - pardon the pun. They weren't around when we were kids so we just never learnt to cook with them.

Ramen is so tasty, that is for sure.
Don't like or eat rice and/or beans so can't help there.

I agree that dry beans are inexpensive and very nutritious. I also liked the comment that pasta can really stretch a meal.
