The Bottled Water Scam

I used to see people coming out of the store with cases of bottled water. I would just shake my head and move on. I have known for a long time that bottled water was just tap water but maybe some do not. It seems that companies buy water from city supplies at a low price. They then sell it back to the public at a big markup. A professor of food studies and public health says that he is not aware of any evidence that bottled water is safer than regular tap water. That is in cities that take care of their water. I hear some have the argument that they get bottled water because their water at home doesn't taste good. Well, filter it, and add lemon or some juice to it. I would never buy water and never will. I buy Gatorade or something besides the scammer water if I am out and need hydrating. I always carry water with me. The picture is from alka-pure.com

I filter my own water. It's way, way cheaper. Besides, those little bottles of water are filling up our landfills and our oceans...enough already.

Long time ago, our water is potable. I don't think the water now is potable. We have a lot of water purifying shops now that sells purified water now.

@rakski ......Oh, okay thanks. I hadn't heard it before. Wonder why it got hazy.

@celticeagle potable means safe to drink. when I was young, we drank from the tap. But then something happened that I cannot really recall, the water started getting hazy, and that purifier became a demand then comes the water purifying store business

In our place we need to buy filtered or purified water as our water source and the tap water that comes out from our faucet is not safe to drink. Authorities had addressed this though but residents just like us just wanted to be sure. It's so hard to experience diarrhea and other illnesses related to this. I agree that buying this is unconventional, impractical. It is indeed the most expensive commodity.

I'm sure that in some areas you need to buy this type of water. It just isn't the case in many areas.

I have well water and love the taste of it. Don't like city water or bottled water.

@celticeagle Our tap water is okay but it doesn't taste as nice as the rainwater we had on our little farm.

I have a few refillable bottles like Klean Kanteens that I use each day at work. The water fountains right outside my classroom also have a water refilling station so I use that at least once a day if not more. I wouldn't ever pay for bottled water just to get through a regular day.

People buy cases and cases of bottled water. Not that many recycle. Not only is the water not worth it; but the plastic pollution is horrendous. Have a good weekend.

That is so true. It just seems so uncaring to me.
