What do I DO now??

hello folks hope all is doing well safe & warm I've been listening to the news about the Calif fires that's just not right & something needs to be done to make it right for every 1 that lost everything. I went to pick up my meds today & was hit with the news that my ins isn't going to pay for them any more & my main med they have me on was going to cost me 800$ well needless to say I wasn't ready to hear that so I told the person so much for that idea I can't pay that. So I don't know WHAT I can do now, thank god I got MOST my meds last month, if I can't pay for them the only thing I know to do is call the dr's & tell them to either put me on something I don't HAVE to pay OR take me off the meds, cause theres NO WAY I can pay for that kind of meds, or just take a chance & don't take them any more till I can get my body back on track. I called some places my main dr told me to call & now I'm just waiting on them to call me back, so we'll see how THAT goes, & go from there till next mon when I have to go back to my dr & see what he does & says. Right now I have enough meds till then so that's a GOOD thing for now it's AFTER that I'm worried about.

That is a lot of money for your meds. I hope you can get some help to pay for them.

It should be against the law, IMO, for insurance companies to deny coverage for things that are not elective that doctors have determined are needed. To me, it's just wrong.

@porwest there's a LOT of stuff that should be against the law but no 1 cares about that or the person they are screwing over.

@jstory07 the meds I'm on are some heavy duty stuff & I'm on like 6-8 different kinds, so yeah I seen what they cost when my Ins sent me the list of meds I'm on Believe me they aren't cheap & I don't have the $ for them.

Hopefully between you and the docs a solution can be found. That's a lot of money for meds, and if you need them, there's no reason for insurance NOT to cover them. I honestly believe it should be against the law to deny paying for things that are not elective that doctors have determined you need.

@2ndchances24 I don't think income limits should be in place. Have insurance, pay the premium, get the benefits. For me it's that simple.

@porwest U wish it was that simple, I wouldn't have to worry.

I agree, but from what they are saying it's S S that's pulling the strings they say we're over the thresh hold of how much income we make that is deciding I don't get any help to pay for my meds which SUCKS. I make 455.00 a month when hubby makes 3.000 on his 2 checks & that puts ME over the income I'm allowed to get the help I need.

If you can stop taking the medicine that would be great if not then I sure hope the doctors can find you something lower cost to take. Are the wildfires in California still going?

(Are the wildfires in California still going?) I don't know, I haven't heard anything on it in a while, I would hope not but you never know these days. (If you can stop taking the medicine that would be great ) I would like to but I would hate to take a chance on it & I end up back in the hosp again

Wow! I wonder why your insurance won't pay for the meds. Is there a generic they will pay for?

Cause ss says We're over the thresh hold for the extra help insurance allows for. We make between the 2 of us a certain amount of ss & va & that's what has put me in the boat of in deep ? with my meds.

@just4him It's nothing to be sorry about it's just the way the gov't works to keep the elderly down & kill us off, but I got news for them, I'm not going like that.

I think there should be a way around all of this. Talk to your doctor for one. Did the insurance company say they wouldn't pay for ANY prescriptions or just the ones you had? Good luck.
