Day 359 – Praise 1 Chronicles 16:7 On that day David first delivered this psalm into the hand of Asaph and his brethren, to thank JEHOVAH: 8 Oh, give thanks to JEHOVAH! Call upon His name; make known His deeds among the people! 9 Sing to Him, sing psalms to Him; talk of His wondrous works! 10 Glory in His holy name; let the hearts of those rejoice who seek JEHOVAH! 11 Seek JEHOVAH and His strength; seek His face evermore! 12 Remember His marvelous works which He did, His wonders, and the judgments of His mouth, 13 O seed of Israel His servant, you children of Jacob, His chosen ones! 14 He is JEHOVAH our Elohiym; His judgments are in the whole earth. 15 Remember His covenant forever, the word which He commanded, for a thousand generations, 16 the covenant He made with Abraham, and His oath to Isaac, 17 and confirmed it to Jacob for a statute, to Israel for an everlasting covenant, 18 saying, “To you I will give the land of Canaan as the allotment of your inheritance,” 19 when you were few in number, indeed very few, and strangers in it. 20 When they went from one nation to another, and from one kingdom to another people, 21 He permitted no man to do them wrong; yes, He rebuked kings for their sakes, 22 saying, “Do not touch My anointed ones, and do My prophets no harm.” 23 Sing to JEHOVAH, all the earth; proclaim the good news of His salvation from day to day. 24 Declare His glory among the nations, His wonders among all people. 25 For JEHOVAH is great and greatly to be praised; He is also to be feared above all elohiym. 26 For the elohiym of the people are idols, but JEHOVAH made the heavens. 27 Honor and majesty are before Him; strength and gladness are in His place. 28 Give to JEHOVAH, O families of the peoples, give to JEHOVAH glory and strength. 29 Give to JEHOVAH the glory due His name; bring an offering and come before Him. Oh, worship JEHOVAH in the beauty of holiness! 30 Tremble before Him, all the earth. The world also is firmly established, it will not be moved. 31 Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad; and let them say among the nations, “JEHOVAH reigns.” 32 Let the sea roar, and its fullness; let the field rejoice, and everything in it. 33 Then the trees of the woods will rejoice before JEHOVAH, for He is coming to judge the earth. 34 Oh, give thanks to JEHOVAH, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever. 35 Say, “Save us, O Elohiym of our salvation; gather us together, and deliver us from the Gentiles, to give thanks to Your holy name, To triumph in Your praise.” 36 Blessed be JEHOVAH Elohiym of Israel from everlasting to everlasting! Then the people said, “Amen!” and praised JEHOVAH. 37 Then he left Asaph and his brothers before the ark of the covenant of JEHOVAH to minister before the ark regularly, as every day’s work required; 38 and Obed-Edom with his sixty-eight brethren, including Obed-Edom the son of Jeduthun, and Hosah, to be gatekeepers; 39 and Zadok the priest and his brethren the priests, before the tabernacle of JEHOVAH at the high place at Gibeon, 40 to offer burnt offerings to JEHOVAH on the altar of burnt offering regularly morning and evening, and to do according to everything written in the Law of JEHOVAH which He commanded Israel; 41 and with them Heman and Jeduthun and the rest who were chosen, designated by name, to give thanks to JEHOVAH, because His mercy endures forever; 42 and with them Heman and Jeduthun, to sound aloud with trumpets and cymbals and the musical instruments of Elohiym. Now the sons of Jeduthun were gatekeepers. 43 Then the people departed, every man to his house; and David returned to bless his house. God’s names: Elohiym – Supreme God JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal Yeshuwa – Jesus God’s character: Holy People love to go to concerts. They enjoy the musical atmosphere as much as they enjoy the musicians. David was known for his psalms and was called Israel’s psalmist. Most if not all his psalms were put to music. When he set the musicians in place in the temple, he gave Asaph the words to two psalms found in the book of Psalms: Psalm 105 and Psalm 96. They were songs of praise and thanksgiving for everything JEHOVAH did for Israel. When you became a Christian, you also sang and continue to sing praises to Yeshuwa. You can find many of the lyrics for the songs you sing in the book of Psalms, written by David. You can find nothing more powerful in thwarting the enemy’s plans than singing Scripture. When Satan comes against you, sing Yeshuwa’s praises. You will find when you do, he cannot touch you. You put a hedge of protection around you he cannot penetrate. Has Satan come against you? You know he has. He will take every weak moment to advance his plans against you. Sing. If you don’t know what to sing, read David’s psalms. The more Scripture you put to memory, the greater your arsenal against Satan. Let’s pray: Father, help me sing Your praises when Satan comes against me. Let Your words fill my heart and my voice with praise for Your mighty works. Let me shout Your praise from the rooftops and let everyone know I belong to You and, more importantly, let Satan know he cannot touch me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
