Down Fitty Cents

Dagnabbit seems to be a word I have been forced to use more often lately due to snow and other matters fully warranting a dagnabbit. Today was no exception as I scanned my Ruler Foods receipt and realized I was overcharged for my 5 pound bag of Idaho Russet potatoes. The sign said (go ahead and spin Tesla's Signs, although to be fair there were no long haired, freaky people involved) 2 for $5, which if my math is correct would be $2.50 per five pound bag. I should note there was not a stipulation that you must buy 2 to get the discounted price, and Ruler generally makes no such stipulations on any of their multi-buy discounts. They charged me $2.99, and while that's technically an overcharge of 49 cents, why not just round it up since I was of course taxed at the higher amount. Oh well. I guess I will just have to be creative and find a way to recoup my 50 cents somewhere. I am sure I will be able to pull it off. I tend to be quite resourceful. Perhaps on my next trip to Ruler or Aldi I will simply have to spend a couple extra minutes stalking in the parking lot for a couple of abandoned shopping carts. I'm gonna get mines, come hell or high water.

Pay attention when things are being rung in at the till and argue with the cashier. Unless you were using one of those infernal self-checkouts.

@porwest Ok, good reason.

I never use self-checkout except in the absolute rarest of situations. Normally I watch the cashier scan things like a hawk, but my mom has dementia, and she was with us, so I was a little bit more distracted than usual.

Can you go back and get your 50¢ refund? Or is it not worth it? We went to eat some Chinese food today. Hubby was about to pay the bill when I asked him to see the receipt. Glad I did because the waitress charged us twice for egg drop soup when we only ordered one. That’s an extra $3.50. Hubby didn’t notice the mistake when he looked at it. He told the waitress and she adjusted the bill.

In this case it is 8 miles to the store, 16 miles round trip, so unless I was already going there for another reason, that would run me $3.19 based on the price of gas and the fact it would use close to one gallon to go back and forth. So no, it would cost me $2.69. lol At least you caught the error before you left the restaurant. Easier to prove it while you are there you only ate one soup than had you left and then noticed the error. Good they made the adjustment.

@porwest I can’t believe hubby looked at the receipt and saw no errors. It was definitely not worth it for you to go back for the refund.

Hey, nice. Tesla's an okay stock. A bit volatile and of course, no dividend. But I have owned it off and on. Right now I do not own any shares of Tesla.
