Where are the sliced potatoes?

Saw a post on Facebook. Someone bought three cans of sliced potatoes at Aldi. They opened one can to find corn. Opened the second to find corn. Third one had corn as well. Probably the whole batch was like that. Could there have been a switch and the cans of corn had the sliced potatoes in them?
I’ve never had that happen to me at any store. Though once a can of Le Seur peas with pearl onions and mushrooms just had the peas in them. I was bummed but at least the peas were there.

I have never had that happen before with any canned items. Seems very odd.

It is very odd. And imagine if you had to have potatoes in the recipe and you ended up with none. You’d have to go back to the store and get some. And where’s the guarantee you’d actually end up with potatoes in the can?

@MarieCoyle I guess it’s good to have in a pinch. But nothing beats freshly made potatoes.

I am not fond of canned potatoes. We did often can them at grandma's as she always planted so many, we ran out of storage for them all. They didn't taste bad at all, but the canned ones from the store just seem to taste strange to me.

Probably. Wonder what the person did with all that opened corn.

@lovebuglena They should have immediately contacted the store so a product recall could be initiated.

Wow! I wonder how disappointed and annoyed those people seeing corn when they are expecting potatoes, but how come it happened?

Maybe whoever was putting on the labels was putting the wrong ones on.

Uh-oh, I have a couple of cans of potatoes in my cupboard at home…and, while I love corn, I can’t eat it because of IBS.

That must be annoying. I hope that it can be exchanged. Or the person likes corn to use it all

The person was gonna make soup originally. Not sure what they did with all that corn.

Very strange but now it makes me wonder if it can happen to me. When we buy canned stuff we don’t really know what we’re gonna get.

Corn could be cheaper and they mislabeled them to make money. Who buys cans of potatoes anyway?

@lovebuglena .......I didn't either. Seems weird to me. I've always used raw potatoes for everything.

@celticeagle it’s a thing now it seems. They sell already cut up or shredded veggies and or fruits. Why? It doesn’t take much time to take fresh fruits and veggies and cut them up or shred them.

I did not even know that canned potatoes was a thing. I’d say lazy people would buy that. Or those that don’t know how to cook.

Did the person call the company and complain? The company might have had a mix-up with the labels and nobody caught it before the cans were shipped out.

I have no idea. They didn’t say anything about that in the post. But if this happens do you contact the store or the company of the canned food?

@lovebuglena The company of the canned food. It's an error on their part, and the store has nothing to do with it. You're more likely to get a good response/reaction from the actual company, anyway.

I’ve seen canned whole potatoes but not sliced ones. It’s easy to slice them yourself. Never bought any canned potatoes. I prefer to boil them myself. But maybe it’s good to have in emergencies.

That's odd, must of been a malfunction at the plant

They definitely had a labeling error. Have a good week.

Clearly someone loaded the wrong labels and someone let the cans get away anyway. In the food business this is actually a HUGE no no, even though in this case it was only corn. But there are very strict laws about this considering some people are blind and have certain allergies and a lot can go wrong if someone accidentally eats something they shouldn't.

I enjoy both but I’d probably choose potatoes over corn. Though not sure about canned potatoes. Never tried those.
